Makaibari Tea Estate
Makaibari tea estate is located in the scenic Kurseong valley of Darjeeling and is one of the oldest and first to construct a factory in the region. It is a family-owned tea estate that has passed through four generations of ownership.
The status of Makaibari has changed dramatically. As a result, the concept of organic cultivation gained traction, and it later became a prominent feature of Makaibari's tea processing. Nearly 700 people work to produce one of the world's finest tea kinds using traditional methods. The Makaibari tea estate is divided into a multi-tiered arrangement of plants and trees, all snuggled coyly like a sub-tropical rain forest.

'Makaibari' literally translates to Corn Field: "Makai" means corn and "Bari" means field. The transformation of a cornfield into a Tea Garden. Makaibari, founded in 1859, was the world's first tea factory. Makaibari was the first tea and tropical agriculture garden to be certified Organic, Fairtrade, and Biodynamic; it was the first garden to be certified Organic, Fairtrade, and Demeter in 1993. The philosophy that most of Makaibari's Corporate Social Responsibility agenda activities are inspired by is "Partnership, not Ownership."
The tea estate, which is located in Darjeeling's scenic Kurseong valley, is one of the oldest and first to construct a factory in the region. The Ganga Maya Park is only 3 kilometres away from the rock garden. The tourist attraction is named after an unarmed civilian who was killed by police during the GNLF agitation. Golpahar View Point Tea Shop
Golpahar Viewpoint, a shop in Golpahar, was created in 2014. The words 'Gol' and 'Pahar' represent 'round' and 'hill,' respectively. The Golpahar View Point is directly across the street from the Golpahar Homestay, which features a lovely lodge and restaurant. There is a lovely Tea Estate with the same name, and visitors can wander through the tea gardens for free.
Simana Viewpoint
It is known for its amazing scenery of Maneybhanjan, the Sandakphu route, the towering alpine valley with Mount Kanchenjunga in the background. The viewpoint has become a popular pit stop for those going from Mirik to Darjeeling. The road works as a divider between India and Nepal for a long distance from Simana to Mirik.
Gumbadara Viewpoint
"GUMBA" stands for Monastery, while "DARA" stands for Hilltop. Gumbadara is a small village with approximately 40 to 50 homes. Tinchulay, a popular tourist site, is 1.5 kilometres away. Gumbadara viewpoint is a popular tourist destination in Tinchulay. On the north, you can see Mt Kanchangunga, Sikkim (Namchi) Chardham, Samdupchey, and Kalimpong (Delo and Durpin). On the east, you can see Mt Kanchangunga, Sikkim (Namchi) Chardham, Samdupchey, and Kalimpong (Delo and Durpin).

It went on to become the world's best tea garden. Makaibari has some distinctive characteristics, including stories and legends, which make it the most talked-about tea estate. It has its own forest cover, with six tyres of woodland - the highest type of Peramculture, with a diverse range of wild creatures and birds. It was designated as the world's first Biodynamic Garden. It is a family-owned tea estate that has been in the same family for four generations.

Makaibari has a forest cover that covers 70% of its total area. Over two hundred varieties of bamboos thrive at Makaibari, along with a profusion of endangered plant and animal species. It is situated in the north Kurseong area, at an altitude of 950-1450 metres. The estate is 340 hectares in size and employs around 900 people.

Thukpa
Thukpa is essentially a dish of Darjeeling but finds its roots in Tibetan cuisine. A hot-noodle soup, Thukpa comprises many veggies, some customary tinge of spices, and Hakka noodles.
Aloo Dum
The preparation of this food of Darjeeling includes boiling the pieces of potatoes in a gravy made up of spices such as red chilli powder, garlic, finely cut onions and, ginger cloves. The final touches to the dish in Darjeeling are garnishing it with coriander and bhujia.

Sel Roti

Steamed Momo
Part of Tibetan cuisine, Momos are mostly dumplings made out of flour with vegetable or chicken/pork stuffing and can be cooked through the process of steaming or deep frying.
Black Tea
The leaves are fully oxidised (or fermented) during processing. After being plucked, the leaves are set out to wither for about 18 hours, allowing the excess moisture to evaporate. To catalysed fermentation, the wilted leaves are rolled. When the oxidised hair, like curled leaves, has reached a vivid green or copper hue, depending on the season, it is dried in an oven with a heater to keep its aroma and fragrance for years.
Green Dry
There is no oxidation in the processing. The leaves are usually boiled to neutralise enzymes and avoid oxidation. The leaves are then rolled in a variety of patterns and tightnesses. After that, the ultimate drying process begins. Due to the lack of oxidation, the tea has a more green appearance and a subtle hay-like aroma.
Oolong Tea
Oolong leaves are processed as soon as they are picked. The leaves are typically dried in the sun before being placed in baskets and shook, which "bruises" the leaves. The leaves are then stretched out in the sun to begin a partial oxidation process, but after two hours or so, the process is stopped and the leaves can be burned in hot woks. An Oolong will eventually have crisp, dry leaves.
White Tea
White tea is made from the tea bush's first flush buds. There is no withering or oxidation because it is not rolled first and then burnt. Because of the constraints of the plucking standard, availability is limited and costs are expensive. There are no signs of rolling, breaking, or bruising. The silver-colored (white) hairs on the harvested tea bud are the source of the name. White Tea liquid is very pale in colour and has a mellow flavour in the cup, evocative of Magnolia.
